Perform a variety of duties assisting in the procurement of raw materials, packaging  Generate purchase orders in  SAP system and work with vendors to confirm shipment and delivery information. Assist  Manager with  contractual agreements, source materials and services for new product development, engineering/maintenance projects, and work with clients to develop cost effective alternatives.  Evaluate component/excipient and API position to support production schedule and ensure product supply position to minimize business interruption due to finished goods availability.

 

essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist Manager with the purchase  of required raw materials, office supplies, maintenance, and production supplies, and follow up on deliveries, as needed.
  • Negotiate with vendors to get the best possible price and delivery.
  • Communicate with relevant departments regarding their purchasing needs; make suggestions regarding alternate vendors, pricing, etc., to maximize profitability and efficiency of the business.
  • Assist Manager in resolving issues concerning shortages, missed/late deliveries, missing paperwork and respond to internal customer inquiries about order status, changes and cancellations.
  • Monitor vendor contracts and performance management, recommending necessary action to improve performance if necessary.
  • Assist with the purchasing activities associated with the procurement of raw materials, supplies and equipment necessary for the ongoing production operations of the Company.
  • Participate in the process of negotiating agreements and contracts with suppliers.
  • Initiate and coordinate activities and projects with suppliers to reduce cycle times, raw material expenditures and other associated costs.
  • Work with key suppliers to leverage purchasing volume to reduce the number of suppliers, thereby lowering costs.
  • Develop initiatives to improve the Company's purchasing and procurement systems.
  • Work with management to improve and integrate data processing systems to track purchase orders, manage inventories and track vendor-related activities.
  • Make suggestions and actively participate in SLIM/Prism initiatives and provide ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Monitor the release of bulk, components, raw materials and finished goods in cooperation with warehouse personnel.
  • Participate in inventory control and scheduling meetings.
  • Coordinate with all departments to minimize production interruption.
  • Assist with AMVL changes, associated change control requirements, and new product code set-up.
  • Maintain/update database with information received via supplier questionnaire on annual basis.
  • Work with management to improve and integrate data processing systems to track and manage inventories.
  • Assist  unit or sub-unit; with procedures and policies to determine appropriate action and become actively involved as required to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Adhere to all cGMPs, compliance/regulatory mandates and quality requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of standard purchasing, planning and production practices.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, to include negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Meticulous in following verbal and written instructions.
  • Accurate and precise in recording information.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • PC proficiency using Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and challenges.
  • Ability to follow directives and procedures, along with ensuring compliance to the same.
  • Ability to understand the flow of production through the manufacturing plant
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Able to understand forecasting and inventory models.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of Associate's degree and pertinentexperience; preferably in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry.
  • Three years' pertinent experience in pharmaceutical or technical manufacturing environment.
  • Experienced in the use of  SAP, MRP, inventory management, and purchasing systems.
  • Professional certifications, such as APICS, CPM, CPIM, CPP, and/or CPSM are a plus.
