Laboratory Technician

summary

The Laboratory Technician position encompasses a variety of both bench level testing and administrative responsibilities. Performs remedial analytical Prepping and testing of QC samples. Assists QC analysts in preparation of reagent and test solutions. Administrative functions include supply stocking, performing physical inventories, and assisting with hazardous waste disposal.

 

essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs remedial analytical testing as required.
  • Performs sample preps as required.
  • Mobile Phase/standard cabinet expiration check and disposal.
  • Stocking of consumable items.
  • Assists with completed sample collections.
  • Prepares and monitors Dissolution media.
  • Monitors reagent solvent inventory.
  • Prepares LC injector rinse solution.
  • Assists in reference standard inventories.
  • Assists with the disposition of laboratory hazardous waste.
  • Performs assigned laboratory functions and additional duties as requested.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of variety analytical techniques, including the following: pH meter, vacuum oven, centrifuge, sonicator, balances.
  • Basic understanding of compendia guidelines such as USP and EP.
  • Basic understanding of following written procedures such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and methods.
  • Basic understanding of regulatory guidelines such as cGMP.
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates self-motivation and initiative.
  • Ability to work with direction/supervision.
  •  

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in chemistry or science related field. Experience in pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry preferred; or
  • Equivalent in pertinent, progressive related pharmaceutical industry experience with increasing levels of responsibility.

  3. Exert an amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  1. Individual is in a proximity to moving mechanical parts and exposure to chemicals.
  2. Individual may be required to wear respiratory devices that include but are not limited to: Air Purifying Respirators (APR) which include half-face and full-face negative pressure respirators, hooded powered air purifying respirators, or Supplied Air Respirators (SAR), which include hooded or full face supplied air respirators.
