Material Handler

Summary

Responsible for receipt, shipment and internal tracking of materials within operating facilities, to include computer data entry and required documentation.  Loads, unloads trucks and staging of materials within operating facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operates material handling equipment to transport materials, in-process goods, packaging components, and equipment to and from the various areas within the operating facilities.
  • Prepares materials (in-process and finished goods) for shipping to distribution or other facilities/ customers.
  • Stores materials in the proper assigned areas and completes required documentation for tracking.
  • Follows all GMP and SOP requirements to maintain compliance status.
  • Follows verbal and written instructions of supervision and batch records.
  • Maintains the assigned processing area in a clean and orderly state according to all regulations, agreements, and SOPs.
  • Performs assigned cleaning responsibilities, which commonly include mopping, sweeping, sanitizing, and general cleaning of surfaces.
  • Records all required Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and GMP data within the specified format in an accurate, legible, and complete manner.
  • Promptly reports any product problems or equipment failures to the supervisor to expedite problem resolution.
  • Supports and participates in Manufacturing's Continuous Improvement processes, Preventive Maintenance, SOP, and GMP training programs.
  • Works on assignments that may be complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations.
  • Applies job skills and company's policies and procedures to complete a wide range of difficult tasks.
  • Adheres to all cGMPs, compliance/regulatory mandates and quality requirements.
  • Identifies and helps implement Continuous Improvement opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Meticulous following of both verbal and written instructions.
  • Accurate and precise in recording information, including computer entries.
  • Ability to maintain keen attention to moving products to ensure proper equipment operation and product quality.
  • Competent use of manual and powered lift equipment, all required PPE and following all safety rules. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • Two years' related work experience or equivalent technical training/certification, or a combination of related work experience and technical training/certification.

  1. Have clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships, bring object into sharp focus and see up and down or to the right or left while fixed on a point. Must also have the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
  1. Exert an amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force rarely by utilizing a hand truck to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  1. Individual is in proximity to moving forklifts and other equipment.
  2. Individual may be required to wear respiratory devices that include but are not limited      to: Air Purifying Respirators (APR) which include half-face and full-face negative pressure respirators, hooded powered air purifying respirators, or Supplied Air Respirators (SAR), which include hooded or full face supplied air respirators.
