Tool Room Attendant

Summary

Responsible for the inventory, distribution, use, cleaning, and maintenance of production tooling; following all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carry out responsibilities in compliance with and following all Company policies and procedures, safety rules and regulations.
  • Receive, unpack and inspect tooling; inspecting both dimensionally and visually.
  • Check hand tools, power tools and craftsman-related tools in and out of Tool Room.
  • Maintain accurate Tool Room inventory; keep accurate custodial log books of all tools issued and returned to Tool Room; maintain Tool Room database.
  • Clean and maintain Tool Room; properly store all tooling and other Tool Room inventory.
  • Clean tooling after any use; perform polishing and light rework to used tooling to ensure longevity of inventory. Clean debris and lubricant from parts, work area and equipment.
  • Maintain the working order of a wide variety of tools and equipment. Determine the need for repair or adjustment and the extent of the required repairs.
  • Obtain cost estimates for new or replacement tooling; properly dispose of nonfunctional tooling.
  • Assist in the setup of machines and perform other duties and support within Production when required.
  • Maintain other inventory, maintenance and storage of other tooling and parts as deemed necessary by management.
  • Adhere to all cGMPs, compliance/regulatory mandates and quality requirements.
  • Identify and help implement continuous improvement opportunities for new and better ways to service the department and production operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet departmental and Company objectives.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), equipment and safety practices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with ability to read, comprehend and execute tasks and concepts found in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical operating and maintenance manuals.
  • Mechanically inclined; proficient using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers as well as both dial and digital indicators.
  • Basic match computation skills.
  • PC proficiency with working understanding of basic inventory database management.
  • Detail oriented with accurate recordkeeping skills and strong commitment to quality in workmanship.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) required.
  • Certification in tooling technology preferred.
  • Minimum five years' related experience working in pharmaceutical (preferred) or other highly regulated manufacturing industry.

  • Exert an amount of force continuously and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force rarely by utilizing a hand truck to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Sufficient noise to occasionally cause the individual to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • Individual is in a proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current and exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions sometimes expose individual to dust, for which protective equipment is available.
  • Individual may be required to wear respiratory devices that include but are not limited to: Air Purifying Respirators (APR) which include half-face and full-face negative pressure respirators, hooded powered air purifying respirators, or Supplied Air Respirators (SAR), which include hooded or full face supplied air respirators.
